3-2-08 "Tope"
Ezra Wube (www.ezraart.net) had an open studio. He is interested in drawing and animation. He is from Ethiopia. Below are shots his studio, him speaking to a visitor, and a "Tope" (sleeping police man).

A morning shot in Washington heights. A mother walks her son to school.
Twilight shot of the east river from the Broadway Bridge.

Long shutter speed Washington Heights, twilight.

The east river through a chain link fence atop the Inwood bridge. This is the begining of Broadway.

The very next morning was bitterly cold. The rain the previous night left the atmosphere empty. This is Washington heights. One of the many neighborhoods I bike through on a daily basis. I take St. Nicolas up to Broadway. The weather is getting harsh.

Riding home in the rain from the Bronx to East Harlem. Biking in NYC in the winter is not as bad as one might think. Global warming is great for biking.
Cars like to hit bikes. Cars are always making illegal U-Turns. The illegal u-turn is my enemy. "They" were making one when they hit me. My bike is my friend.
I met with a very nice Korean American lady. Her name was Alice. I showed her the apartment. We worked out pricing. I learned something about myself. She was jet-lagged, dehydrated and hungry.
I put a door on a room tonight.
I lost my wallet.

Above is the back of the restaurant called Olmeca on 115th. On Saturday they have Karaoke. They like the garbage to pile up. Once they get to a good point, they make a party out of throwing everything away. Everyone comes out of the wood work to clean the mess. It's very multi-generational. I am sure in some sleepy Mexican town there is a shrine dedicated to this restaurant.

Today I spent two hours scrubbing the floor of my apartment. I never like to put down drop cloths on the floor when I paint walls.
Two women came to look at the apartment. One studies philosophy. One works at Banana Republic.
I went running with Ken along the east river. We met a kid who was making beats up out of his head. We approached him. Ken smoked a cigarette. I did push ups. We tried to freestyle. Ken froze. Murder.
Ken told me later that he thought the kid was on crack.
